18-Month Consortium Meeting Held at ITQ, UPV-CSIS Valencia

The SOMMER project consortium recently gathered for a productive two-day meeting at the Instituto de Tecnología Química (ITQ, UPV-CSIC), located on the campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València. As an international recognised center of excellence in the area of catalysis, advanced materials (especially zeolites), and photochemistry, ITQ provided the perfect setting for this milestone event.

Participants from both research and industry partners came together to review progress, exchange insights and engage in discussions to strengthen collaboration. The meeting featured comprehensive presentation from work package and task leaders who showcased their teams’ advancements across the project’s work packages.

Significant progess

Key updates included:

  • Material selection and testing for membrane manufacturing
  • Simulation activities entering its final phase
  • Presentation of the on-sun reactor concept

The SOMMER project has made significant progress over the past months, pushing forward the development of membrane technologies for sustainable syngas production. This meeting served not only as a platform on reflect on achievements but also to align on the exciting next steps ahead.

In addition to the discussions, attendees enjoyed a technical tour of ITQ’s outstanding facilities, exploring the advanced laboratories and equipment that support the project’s research activities.
